A Window Full of Snowflakes

Hello friends!

So Christmas has officially wrapped up. Are you ready to take down all of your festive decor? I am not! Let's keep it going! It is still technically winter, even though it doesn't get cold where I live, so I decided to make snowflakes.

I wanted to make some fancy white and sparkly ones. But I have made a lifestyle change to USE WHAT I ALREADY HAVE! Hence my white, blue, red, and green snowflakes :)

All you need is Construction paper, scissors, and tape. I followed the simple tutorial from The Inspired Housewife.

For each snowflake, you will need 6 squares of construction paper.

Yup, go old school 7th grade note folding to make a square. Cut off the excess strip and save for another project! Keep your square folded in that triangle for the next step.

This part is hard to illustrate, but starting from the folded part, make 3 equal cuts on each side that line up with each other. Just make sure they don't touch.

Open your paper flat and now you are left with a bunch of diamond shapes.

Grab the inner points of your diamond and tape together.

Flip to the other side, and tape the next two points together.

And again...

And again and you are left with a pretty spindle that is your first point of your snowflake.

As you complete each point, staple the bases together.

Staple the outside edge of each snowflake together to it's neighbors to help it keep it's shape.

So pretty! and SO simple!

Gather the strips you cut earlier and staple at one end.

Cut the other in end in staggering lengths with the center being the shortest. Then staple the other end.

Pretty vintage "onion" ornaments.

I hung my creations in our huge bay window using string and tape.

Quite the display and it was FREE :)

    1. Thanks, Sharla! I was actually thinking about using those white flexible cutting boards from Dollar Tree!! It would be three bucks and they would be weather proof.
