Hello friends!
Well this project was MONTHS in the making. I just could never seem to finish it and honestly, it is still not finished. But I couldn't wait to show you!!!
Have you seen these standing mirror jewelry armories?
So cool and SO expensive to boot! So like any good DIYer I knew I could tackle it, but in my own way. Off to Habitat for Humanity ReStore...
Where I found this beauty for FIVE bucks! It is a medicine cabinet in good condition.
Just the veneer was peeling off on the front. Have no fear...spray paint fixes everything, right?!
I wanted the inside to pop so I picked a vibrant color, Lagoon!
I don't have the skills or tools to make the apparatus to put inside so I had to think outside of the box.
I found this $3 chunky chain necklace at Walmart and had an idea!
I used cuphooks and stretched the chain across!
This gave me a "rod" to hang my necklaces on.
And perfect little hangers to put my earrings in.
The hooks in my earrings slide right into the chain loops. It is secure but easy to get in and out.
I put in more cuphooks to the bottom of the shelf to hang up all my bracelets.
It is SO nice having all of your jewelry organized in a way that makes it possible to see everything you have.
I actually prefer the way I made it than the $250 store bought armoires. All of the store bought ones are not customizable. You only get X number of slots for earrings and X number of slots for necklaces. And who has a few earrings, a few necklaces, but 100 rings???
One issue still remains...I painted it using black spray paint but then accidently peeled off some more veneer. And yup, I attempted to tape it off using newspaper and got spray paint all over the mirror. Oh well...I will get to it...eventually :)
stopping in from happy go lucky & so glad I did. what a creative way to create an armoir :) newly following too- cant wait to see what else you are up to!

VERY clever. I have a jewelry box that is a jumble of tangled mess. This would help a great deal. Well done.

ReplyDeleteA medicine cabinet turned into a jewelry organizer? How cool is that? Looking at these, I want to organize my jewelry and put it in something unusual that people wouldn’t have thought of, like yours. Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea!
