$5 nightstands + Free paint = fabulous!

Hello friends!

My sweet man understands my love of upcycling thrift finds and has joined in as my partner in crime.
He was so proud of himself for this find and I was too!!!

Look at these cute vintage nightstands! He got two of them for FIVE dollars!

They had these weird leather panels and some lovely water marks.

I pulled them off and sanded them smooth.

I got out my FREE PAINT from Ace Hardware and went to work.

and voila!

I LOVE them!!! They were the first project in our bedroom and I am not done yet.
More fun projects to come!

Quick dinners this week

Hello friends!

Whew, we have been busy! I have several projects in the works
and am looking forward to share them with you.

This week I have made some yummy, quick, and easy dinners that were great!

Chili with corny corn bread!
I added a can of corn into some Jiffy Corn bread mix and it was SO SO SO good!

I kicked Chicken Alfredo up a notch by using leftover grilled chicken
and some Roasted Poblano Pepper Alfredo sauce!
yummm and even better as leftovers!

I am slowly becoming a better chef who can kind of wing it instead of relying on a recipe.
I made these yummy chicken tacos by simmering seasoned chicken breasts in Rotel.

I added corn and it give it a sweet twist. So good and gotta get in those veggies!

I have been pleased that even with LIMITED time
we have been able to have some nice meals together!

Free paint

Hello friends!

Wanted to share this awesome giveaway from Ace Hardware stores.
On Saturdays, they give away a free sample of their Clark and Kensington Paint and Primer in One!

I thought for sure it was going to be a teeny pot of paint that came in three colors.
But no, look what I got...
a huge pot of paint! They also have tons of colors you can choose from!!

The folks there were so friendly and I have gone twice now to get this lovely blue/grey color.
Projects are on the way :)

You won't believe how much I paid!

Hello friends!

I got the BEST deals this weekend! I went to Bealls Outlet
just killing some time and was browsing through their clearance section.
I found this gorgeous cross

It was originally 7.99 but was on sale for...39 cents!
Yes, 39 cents! We had to dig through our pockets for change
cause you can't exactly use your debit card for 39 cents :)

I have been searching for a spice rack for quite some time
and found this lovely, scalloped edge perfect one for two bucks!
I got this at a local GIANT flea market! It was cherry wood so I spray painted
it gloss black to match the rest of the kitchen decor.

Last but not least, does anyone know what this milk glass pattern is called???
I have a large cake plate, a large pedestal dish, and now this salad plate :)
I added this baby to my collection for 25 cents at a garage sale down the street.

Cheesy Hashbrown Bake

Hello friends!

I am back with another Pinterest inspired recipe. You know I can never seem to follow a recipe correctly  so I have given up and accepted "wingin it"!

Tonight we made a Cheesy Hashbrown Bake with Smoked Sausage.

So simple. You need:
Smoked sausage
potatoes
sour cream
cheese

First, shred your potatoes and make hashbrowns.

I used my FAVORITE kitchen gadget, my cheapo Mandolin.
Seriously, pick one up.
They are less than 10 bucks at Bed Bath and Beyond (Don't forget your coupon!)

Slice up your sausage and add a bug dollop of Sour Cream
and a handful of cheese to your hashbrowns.
Add your favorite seasonings. I used salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes.

Mix thoroughly and spread in greased dish.
Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
I added a little more cheese to the top in the last five minutes of cooking.

and voila...
It does not look that appetizing but it was SO good!

Pizza Pinwheels

Hello friends!

Yup, another Pinterest inspired recipe :)
Tonight we made Pizza Pinwheels.
It was so easy and kinda fun!

We used:
Pizza Crust
Pepperoni
Ham
Mozarella
Spaghetti Sauce

First stretch out your pizza dough and cover lightly with spaghetti sauce.

We added a light coat of Mozzarella and Pepperoni and Ham.
Is my OCD showing? :) We seasoned with garlic salt and Italian seasonings.

Slowly roll up your pizza.

I misted the pizza with olive oil and added our seasonings.

Our oven burns hot so we baked at 350 for 20 minutes.

and voila!

Note to self: Next time slice the pizza dough vertically before rolling.
This will make two Pinwheels that aren't as thick and the dough will bake more evenly!
